Common bet types explained
Singles, doubles, accumulators, each-way and more.

Single: one selection. Simple, and the easiest to track over time — the vast majority of professional tipsters post singles.
Double / treble / accumulator: several selections combined; all must win. Returns multiply, but so does the bookmaker's margin, which is why accas are rarely profitable long-term.
Each-way: two bets — one to win and one to place (finish in the top few) at a fraction of the odds. Popular in racing and golf.
Over/Under: a bet on whether the total goals, points or games is over or under a line, e.g. Over 2.5 goals.
Handicap: one side gets a head start to even the contest. See our Asian handicap guide.
